Sustainability has become a key concept for evaluating organisations. Bodies, institutions and companies have an obligation to behave responsibly in order to pursue their own objectives without compromising the possibilities of future generations.

The activities of companies are considered sustainable if they not only take economic and financial factors into consideration, but also ESG criteria. The three letters in this acronym refer to:

Environmental, concerning activities that impact the environment and the territory;
Social, which includes all initiatives with a social impact on the community;
Governance, which concerns the internal aspects of the company and its administration.

CSRD: a new standard for transparency

The EU Directive 2022/2464 (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, CSRD), approved by the European Parliament in November 2022 and effective from January 2023, introduces new rules for sustainability reporting. This directive aims to improve the clarity and transparency of sustainability information, requiring that the Sustainability Report is prepared according to the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) issued by the European Financial Reporting Advisory Board (EFRAG).

Pietro Fiorentini adopts a governance model based on a Code of Conduct and on shared values, as well as on compliance with the Organization, Management and Control Model pursuant to Legislative Decree nr. 231/2001 (“Model”). The term governance refers to all those processes which aim to achieve short-term objectives that are consistent with a well-defined action strategy, without compromising competitiveness in the medium-to-long term. Thus, it regulates the equity of salaries and bonuses, the transparency of financial information and compliance with tax and legal regulations clearly and effectively. Our commitment to sustainable management is guaranteed by a system of responsibility, defined at the level of governing and control bodies, through dedicated processes, procedures, and tools.

Sustainability report

We value resources: this is the responsibility that guides us and the commitment we strive towards in our everyday work. Consistent with our new purpose, we started a structured programme to identify the main areas in which the Group’s activities can have the greatest impact on environmental protection and the well-being of communities, consumers and all stakeholders involved. The results of this analysis led to the identification of our material issues.

The indicators (KPIs) set out in the matrix and linked to the ESG dimensions are presented in our sustainability report, a statement that provides a complete representation of Pietro Fiorentini’s activities and its commitment to people, environment and business transparency, with the ultimate goal of achieving a sustainable success.
